Sushi Adventures (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website sushiadventures.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the site, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at contact@sushiadventures.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us. If you subscribe to our newsletter, you give us your email address. When you leave a comment, you give us a name, an email address, and the text of your comment. When you contact us, you give us whatever you write in your message.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically collect technical data when you visit: your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, the page you came from, the pages you view, and timestamps. This is collected via cookies and similar technologies.

Cookies and similar technologies

  • Essential cookies. Needed for the site to function (security, basic navigation).
  • Analytics cookies. Google Analytics 4, used to understand how readers use the site.
  • Advertising cookies. When advertising is enabled, Google AdSense and its partners use cookies to serve and measure ads.

Visitors in the EEA, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland see a consent banner on their first visit and can accept or reject non-essential cookies. Visitors elsewhere can disable cookies in their browser, though some features may stop working.

Third-party services we use

  • Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC). Helps us understand traffic and content performance. Privacy.
  • Google AdSense (Google LLC). When ads are enabled, Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google’s Ad Settings or aboutads.info/choices.
  • Newsletter provider. If you subscribe, your email address is stored with our email service provider solely to send you the newsletter.
  • YouTube embeds (Google LLC). Some posts may embed YouTube videos, which can set cookies when the video loads. We use privacy-enhanced mode where possible.
  • Hostinger. Our hosting provider. Stores the site files and may keep server logs.

How we use your information

  • To deliver and improve the site.
  • To send you the newsletter, if you subscribed.
  • To respond to comments or contact messages.
  • To measure and (when enabled) serve relevant ads.
  • To detect and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse.

Data retention

  • Newsletter subscribers. Until you unsubscribe.
  • Comments. Indefinitely, unless you ask us to delete them.
  • Google Analytics user-level data. 14 months, then aggregated.
  • Server access logs. Typically 30 days.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal information, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@sushiadventures.com with the subject “Privacy Request.” We respond within 30 days.

Your rights (California / CCPA)

If you are a California resident you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information. We do not sell your personal information for money. When advertising is enabled, we allow Google to set advertising cookies, which under California law may be considered “sharing.” You can opt out by accepting only essential cookies in our consent banner, by enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser, or by emailing contact@sushiadventures.com.

Children’s privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with a new revision date. Material changes will be flagged at the top for at least 30 days.
