This page explains how Sushi Adventures works financially, where reviews come from, and what to expect from the content on this site.

Editorial independence

Every review on this site reflects my own experience at the counter or the table. I write what I actually thought, including the things that didn’t work. No restaurant, group, or PR agency gets to approve, edit, or veto a post before it goes live.

Who pays for the meals

Almost every meal on this site is paid for out of my own pocket. When a meal is partially or fully comped (a media tasting, a hosted dinner), I disclose that at the top of the relevant post. The disclosure does not change my review.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links — for sushi-making gear, knives, cookbooks, and the occasional reservation or booking service. If you click one and buy something, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only link to products and services I have personally used and would recommend to a friend. Affiliate links never determine what gets reviewed or what the review says.

Sponsored content

If a brand ever pays for placement, the post is clearly labeled “Sponsored.” Sponsored posts still go through the same honesty filter. I will not run a sponsored post about something I would not personally use.

Pricing and availability

Menus and prices change, and availability is seasonal. I list prices that were accurate at the time of my visit. Always confirm current pricing with the restaurant before you go.
