About
Sushi Adventures is the two of us — and honestly, a lot of the time, just me — chasing good sushi wherever we happen to be.
I’m Alex. My wife Vika and I are in our forties, based in the Chicago suburbs, and somewhere along the way sushi went from “a nice dinner out” to the thing we plan trips around. We order it on date nights, on work trips when I’m eating at the counter by myself, and in cities where we don’t speak the language and just point at what looks good. This site is where I write it all down.
What you’ll find here
Honest reviews of sushi spots around the world — plus the part most review sites skip: how sushi is actually made, the tools and technique behind it, and the history of how a humble street snack in old Edo became what’s on the plate today.
How I review
- I pay for my own meals.
- I write what I actually thought, including the misses.
- I name the dishes, the price, and the room, so you know what you’re walking into.
- No restaurant gets to approve a review before it goes up.
Whether you’re booking a counter seat for a special night, learning to season rice at home, or just want an honest take before you go — pull up a seat.
